"College for All" has taken upon itself the mission of promoting academic excellence and social responsibility in economically distressed communities throughout Israel.
"College for All" advances equality through education by identifying and locating children and youth with high learning potential, from low socio-economic backgrounds, and providing them with the opportunity they deserve to study and progress.
This unique grassroots initiative, established in 1999, currently operates 21 empowerment centers throughout the country, serving around 1500 children from the 3rd to the 12th grade, who also receive reinforcement from 450 university students on scholarship for their mentoring.
"College for All" is committed to supporting the participants every day, after school, all year long, 4 hours a day, for a period of 10 years until their high school graduation. The centers provide them with a warm lunch, and reinforcement lessons and scholastic support, designed to enhance their academic achievements; participants also receive cultural enrichment to expand their world of knowledge, and are encouraged to devote themselves to local community initiatives.
The participants' parents serve as one of the supporting pillars of the centers. They are deeply involved in the educational process and play an active and important part in it by strengthening their connections with the children and broadening their own horizons by means of monthly lectures and year-round classes provided by the Association; all aiming to cultivate among them social responsibility and community involvement.
