“Please mammy, Find Him!” Said Natasha, Tears beginning to show in her eyes, voice broken with sobs. “I have tried my love” said the mother hugging Natasha. “We have both tried to look for him” Natasha’s mom began to rock Natasha back and forth. “Close your eyes, and I will tell you where he is, but only if you keep it a secret” she whispered. Natasha’s head snapped up, hope in her eyes. Than quickly placed her head between her mothers bosoms, feeling the warmth of her mothers love. Closing her eyes very tight she awaited her mom to tell her the story of where her lost Unicorn could be…
“What happened was…” said her mom.
Far away in a distant Mountain lives a very lonely witch. No one has seen or spoken to her for a hundred years. Feeling her loneliness she wished for a way to get out of the mountain. She thought about this for many years. One day a lost Fairy buzzed across the Mountains cave.
At seeing the Fairy the witch moved for the first time in 50 years, dirt and roots caked her clothes making the witch appear like a monster. She tried to ask the Fairy for a bit of her dust so that she might be able to fly down the mountain. But when she opened her mouth all that came out was a loud growl, for the witch had not spoken in many years and dirt had filled her mouth.
The Fairy screamed at what she thought was a monster coming to eat her and quickly flew away. The witch’s growl became louder trying to make herself understand which only made the fairy fly faster away. This enraged the witch who dusting herself and her magic spell book decided to make all the fairies in the land pay for their denial.
This is how the Unicorn came to be part of the story, one afternoon Natasha was playing outside with her unicorn when her mom called her in for a bath. Natasha ran into her mother’s arm forgetting all about the unicorn, leaving him alone in the Garden. As the night grew darker a little fairy appeared walking very slowly in the garden. The Unicorn raised his head “Why do you walk instead of fly” asked the unicorn. The Fairy gave a long sigh “A terrible monster has stolen the magic crown of our King, it is the Crown that gives us the magic to fly, but now we are all lost, we do not know the way back to our kingdom from the ground, and so we all walk endlessly trying to get back home.” “That’s Horrible” said the Unicorn. “why doesn’t anyone try to get the crown back?” “I wish we could” said the Fairy “but it is very far away, and our legs are very short, there is no way we could get there in our lifetime”
The unicorn looked towards the house where he could hear his human laughing in the tub, he wanted so much to help the Fairy but he also wanted to be in his humans arms when she fell asleep, warm and save from all the scary things in the big world . But looking at the tired Fairy he knew what had to be done.
“I will take you” said the Unicorn, lowering his horn down to the grown so that the fairy could climb onto his back. “You will?!” said the fairy running towards the Unicorn as fast as her little legs could carry her. “But you must promise to bring me back as soon as we get the crown” “I promise, I promise” said the fairy.
“What is your name?” asked the Unicorn “and how do we get to the mountain?” “My name is Zarah, and I only know how to get there by air. I know we must cross the fields of yellow, go across the forest of evergreen trees, across the Lake that flows to the North and then we will see the Mountain that rises beyond the hills”
Zarah held on to the Unicorns mane as he began to ran across the garden and toward the fields, he knew where they where because Natasha’s mom had taken them several time to the yellow fields for picnics. He was now very glad that he always paid attention.
“what is your name brave Unicorn” asked Zarah, “My name is Unicorn” said the Unicorn. For the first time wondering why didn’t have a name.
It took a little longer than he expected to cross the fields, his legs might be longer than the fairies but definitely shorter than Natasha’s and he soon realized that the tall yellow grass made it impossible for him to see. “I shall climb to the tip of your horn,” said the fairy “if you raise your head as much as you can I think I can navigate our way across.” It was slow work, for the unicorns neck kept on getting very tired and he had to keep lowering it and then stretching it out again, soon they were almost out of the grass. Suddenly a sharp bat cry was heard behind them. The unicorn shock his horn, throwing the fairy into the soft yellow grass just in time. The bat swooped down and was met the with the unicorns horn instead of getting a fairy snack. Crying out in pain and confusion the bat flew away once more. “Thank you” cried Zarah “That was close” said the Unicorn, “we must keep a better watch from now on” “Agreed” said Zarah climbing once again onto the Unicorns horn.
‘I must be faster’ thought the unicorn ‘I need to get back to Natasha before she believes me lost forever and gets a new unicorn.’
The unicorn began to gallop as fast as he could, trying to ignore the pain in his neck as Zarah yelled out instructions and soon they where out of the field. They were met with a long black road, cars zoomed by every couple of seconds even in the dark of night. “How can we cross?” asked the unicorn Zarah though about it for what seemed a long time, “we can use the Bat” she said finally. “are you crazy, that thing almost ate you” said the Unicorn, the fairy came close to his ear and told him her plan. “yup,” said the Unicorn “you are crazy” but he began to look for a stick and the tallest yellow grass stalk he could find. Soon the stick was tied to the unicorns horn and the fairy dangled tied to the end of the stick. The unicorn raised his head as a fisherman raises his pole. And the fairy sang as loud as her little voice could carry hoping the bat would hear her. They stood this way for a few minutes, the unicorn was about to give up when he heard the loud screech and the bat wings coming their way. His legs tensed and his neck hurting more than ever he awaited the fairy’s signal. The flapping of the bat wings made a loud whooshing sound as he came closer and closer. “NOW” screamed the fairy and the Unicorn leaped into the air as high as he could. He thought he might have missed the bat until his legs felt a tough leathery skin underneath him. He held on as tight as he could wrapping his soft cloth legs around the bat and making sure the fairy was far from the bats mouth as possible, but close enough that the bat might believe he could still eat her.
In this manner they crossed the road and where able to cross a few miles of the forest. The unicorn directing the bat by turning his horn right or left, making the fairy swing and the bat followed. But soon his legs began to cramp and not been able to hold on any longer he directed the bat to the ground. Once there the bat was so tired he turned and left not wanting anything more to do with his little snack.
The Unicorn and Zarah fell to grown exhausted. Untying herself Zarah said “perhaps we should camp here tonight, begin our journey again tomorrow morning” “NO” said the Unicorn, “you can sleep on my back, but I have to keep going, I need to get back to my human” “Of course” said Zarah, she knew the sacrifice the Unicorn was making for her and all the fairies. “at least have some water” Zarah said, and climbing into a flower she found some water still fresh from the morning rain and gave it to the unicorn. The Unicorn shook his head “Thank you but I don’t drink, I am not real” “oh” responded Zarah, feeling very silly “of course“ Soon they were back galloping through the forest. Zarah tried to stay awake but soon her eyelids where too heavy and she fell asleep for what seemed a long time. Until the Unicorns soft nozzle arouse her from her sleep. “we are at the lake that flows to the north.” he said Zarah opened her eyes and than shut them again blinded by the midsummer sun. she looked back and felt a growing respect for the Unicorn, he had ran across the forest all night and half the morning while she slept. “Your human must be special” said the Fairy, “you must love her very much.” The unicorn smiled thinking of his Human “Natasha is very special, no one loves me more than she does.” “but we are wasting time, how do we get across the river, I don’t think there are any bats around here” “can you swim?” asked Zarah “perhaps if I was real” said the unicorn “But I am sewn out of cloth, the only thing that is hard in my body is my horn, and even that can be torn away if I misuse it.” Zarah took a deep sigh, wondering how they could possibly cross the river, The Unicorn was right, he was made out of cloth, which meant that if he where to fall upon the river he would sink to the bottom and not be able get back up. And if Zarah happened to get into the river the current would surely carry her too far away to ever be able to come back home. They both sat at the edge of the River unsure of how to cross it, The Unicorn kept on looking up into the sun which kept on moving without thought of how much it meant for time to go by. ‘I must get back soon…’ thought the Unicorn , but the sun kept moving no matter how much the unicorns heart begged for it to stop, for time to stand still so that he could finish his quest and get back to the little girl he loved so much. Suddenly their pensive stares where broken by a movement behind them, the sound of boots followed and the clop clop of hooves. The Unicorn stood very still while the Fairy quickly hid herself inside his mane. A young female Human of about 15 summers old stood by the river side, prompting her horse to drink from the river. Her hair was long and wavy and as brown and bright as her eyes. She bent over to have a drink herself when she stopped and looked at the Cloth unicorn laying by her feet. “Now what could you possibly be doing all the way out here?” she said picking him up slowly and carefully. She looked into the Unicorns eyes and smiled, “well go on…answer me” ‘is she really talking to me?’ wondered the Unicorn ‘does she expect me to talk back to her?’ “My name is Rochelle” said the young woman, “also know as Edrielle, The goddess of imagination and yes my dear Unicorn I know you can talk, so tell me your name and what you are doing here so far away from home” The Unicorns head moved to one side just a little bit, more out of surprise than a response but it made Rochelle smiled just the same. Rochelle’s horse seeing the opportunity to graze while a story was being told began to walk away in search of berries to eat. Zarah nuzzled slowly out of her hiding place. First pocking through the mane and then sticking her head out “are you really a goddess?” she asked Rochelle smiled once more “oh, yes, a forgotten one Am afraid, most people today are too afraid to imagine, children are my only and dearest friends and even they are slowly forgetting me, too engulfed in television and video games to truly imagine something new.” Zarah came out of the unicorns mane and sat on Rochelle’s thumb “could you send us to the mountain then?” Rochelle laughed an easy laugh that sounded like a thousand small bells all ringing in Unison. “I am the Goddess of Imagination little one, not a witch” “Why would such little things need to go to such a big place?” asked Rochelle showing concern for the first time. Growing more confident the Unicorn began to tell Rochelle of the monster in the cave, and the Fairy’s King lost magic Crown and finally about his little human whom he missed so much. Rochelle looked into the Horizon for a little while “I am afraid I cant take you all the way to the mountain myself, I must get back to my daughters before night fall” seeing the puzzled expression that passed trough Zarah and the Unicorn, Rochelle smiled once again “looks can be deceiving…” “you should know that more than anyone” said Rochelle as she touched one of the plushy hooves of the Unicorn “your human dared to imagine that you are something more than a toy and so you are, and I am more than the child that I appear to be, My daughters are the muses that whisper in the ears of all who create something out of nothing, and I must get back to them or all the creations and their creators will cease to be. There are so few who create now a days that I can’t take that risk. But I can get you across the river” With that she called upon her mare, placing the unicorn within the laps of her shirt she plunged into the river careful not to get the Unicorn wet. It only took a few minutes but soon they were safely on the other side. “We can’t thank you enough” said Zarah with a little Vow. “We will remember you among the Fairy for all time.” “as will I” said the Unicorn “well, that is all I ask” laughed Rochelle and then grew serious for a second before the light laughter returned “I will see what I can do about your human so that she does not suffer in your absence.” The Unicorn gently lowered his horn “I am very grateful” When he raised his eyes again the Goddess Rochelle was gone. “The fairies will sing songs about her for all time” said Zarah But The unicorn was already looking into the Horizon vast green hills where to be seen in all directions and in the far south stood the mountain. “we wont get there until tomorrow” he said with small pain in his chest. “The goddess said she would try and help you so that Natasha wont think you are gone forever” “How?” retorted the Unicorn but then he realized it had been his decision to undergo this adventure and he should not be angry at Zarah who like him all she truly wanted to do was to go back home “I’m sorry” said the Unicorn “I think I am tired and weary” “As you should be” replied Zarah caressing his mane “ you have been going nonstop for a whole day!” “perhaps it is time to rest, I myself need something to eat” “oh, I forgot that you eat…”said the Unicorn “I am so sorry, ok lets make camp for tonight you can eat and I can rest” And so they did.
The morning sun grew hotter as it advanced further into the Sky. This time it was the fairy who had to wake the Unicorn but there was nothing gentle about it. Being such a small thing compared to the unicorn she had to punch and scream at him before he felt her at all. “Finally” said Zarah as he opened his eyes “I have been trying to wake you up for hours, you must have been very tired.” The Unicorn shook his mane trying to remember where he was. “I was dreaming I was in Natasha’s arms, I didn’t want to wake up” “I’m sorry” said Zarah looking down “I am sorry that I took you away from your human, it was not my intension to hurt either one of you. I was so excited at the idea of getting back our magic and saving our kingdom that I didn’t stop to think what it would mean for you or your human” “its ok” said the Unicorn “it was my idea to go on this adventure, it is not your fault. I just miss Natasha so much” ‘and I am afraid that she might forget me or get another toy’ he thought to himself but did not dare to say it out loud for fear of it coming true. “I already had breakfast” said Zarah “so we can continue on if your ready” Lowering his horn once more so that the fairy could climb on it the Unicorn said “I am ready” The fairy hardly had time to hold on to his mane before the Unicorn began to Gallop at full speed towards the mountain.
By the time they reached the bottom of the mountain the sun had once more crossed the entire sky and it now rested on the horizon. They both stared upon the tall mountain having to crank their necks all the way up to see the top. They spent a few minutes looking for a path or a small road to take them up the mountain but saw none. “we could go around the mountain, there might be a path on the other side” said Zarah sounding unsure. “that could take days” said the Unicorn. “and there might not even be one” “I know” said Zarah “It just seems impossible” “Impossible is just another word that means I‘m afraid to try” said the unicorn “What” “That’s just what Natasha’s mom always says.” replied the Unicorn “She says Impossible and I can’t should not be in then vocabulary” Zarah thought about this for a moment and the asked “what’s a vocabulary?” This made them both start to laugh until their bellies hurt. Neither one of them knew what it meant or even why they laughing so hard at it. But that’s how it some times.
“ok, let’s do this” said the unicorn graving a long stem of a wild flower growing near him. “Tie your self to me, just in case.” Once the fairy was tied tight enough to the Unicorn, he began to climb the mountain. Each step was strenuous and difficult to climb but each time the Unicorn thought he could go no longer he thought about Natasha and gave another step. The sun went down, and soon it was to the light of the moon that they were climbing to. Making everything that had looked beautiful in the sunlight look sinister and scary. A few times the Fairy thought she saw something white moving behind them but then she realized it was only the ray of moonlight that was shining. Zarah wondered if they should stop but even if the Unicorn had wanted to rest there was no place to do so. The mountain seemed to be an endless uphill road with no landing where they could stop and sit for a while. Suddenly the Unicorn placed his hoove upon a loose rock and lost his balance. He tried to grab on to another but he could no longer keep his body straight and he began to fall. Both fairy and Unicorn began to scream, their little bodies waving in the wind. ‘This is it’ thought the unicorn ‘I will never see Natasha again, I will never feel her warm hugs, smell her sweet shampoo upon my neck, she will never again tell me her secrets, whispering them into my ear in the dark of night so that no one will hear, she will never…’ The Unicorn never got to think his last melancholy thought for a huge white hand grabbed them both out of the air, whirling their little heads until they were standing still among the large soft fur of a yetis body. At first the Unicorn thought his ears where ringing but then he realized it Zarah who was still screaming “Hush, stop that” said the Unicorn “it’s a monster, a moooonster” screamed the fairy A deep laughter was heard from within the chest that they were held onto. “I is not a monster” said the Yeti. “I is a Yeti” Zarah stopped screaming at the sound of the voice but The Unicorn could still feel her shaking in his back. “a little voice told yeti to come here, the little voice said I find friends.” “A muse” whispered the Unicorn to the the fairy who was still tied to his back “Rochelle must still be helping us” he said with a smile and then turned to the yeti “We are friends, we mean you no harm” “yay, friends” yelled the yetti “Its been long time since yeti had friends” “we have been traveling for too many moons for us who wish to be home among our family” replied the fairy, still shaking a little. The Yeti grabbed on to the shards of stone that made up the mountain as easily as you or I would pick flowers upon a field and began to climb. “ I Take friends home” said the yeti Both the fairy and the Unicorn thought the same thing. ’could this be the monster who took the crown?’ It would have probably taken the Unicorn and the Fairy part of a month to climb the mountain. That’s if the sharp rocks had not tared the unicorn to pieces before getting to the top, or if another false rock had not made them tumble to their death. But it only took the yeti ten minutes to climb to the top of the mountain and then enter a cave that was hidden by a huge bolder. The cave was covered with colorful drawings of trees and flowers. Humans surrounded the trees dancing in total bliss. There was hay on the floor where the yeti slept and a small fire was burning in one of the corners. “Now me eats, and friends join” said the Yeti. “what is your name friend?” asked the Unicorn looking around for the crown as he said it. “I is Bastian…but most people call me Moooooonnnnsterrrr” said the yeti looking glum. Zarah untied herself and looked over bastian for the first time. He was much bigger than any human she had ever seen, probably two or three humans tall. He was covered in soft white fur that made him look like an animal but his eyes where soft and blue like the prince in her homeland. He had a huge wide mouth but his teeth where not edgy or sharp but square and dull. “you eat roots’ she said, more to herself than to Bastian. “ I does, I does…Yummy yummy roots” said bastian clapping his hands as he said it. Both Zarah and the unicorn could not help but laugh. Bastian began to prepare a soup, made of roots and flowers that grew on the mountain as both Zarah and the Unicorn told of their adventures. “That’s why we have to get to the monsters cave” Finished of Zarah “and find my fathers crown.” “Does friend really thought I was monster who stole crown” asked the Yeti. “we did, my friend” answered the Unicorn “ But no longer, we now see that you have no ill will towards us or any living thing” “we are very sorry to have thought that” said Zarah, “so much has happened in the last few days that we didn’t know what to think” “yes…” replied the yetti looking down at his soup before smiling up and saying “ I take friends to monster, she be at other side of mountain, Bastian stay away for she very ugly. But I take friends and help” “thank you” cried the unicorn standing up ready to go “Morrow’ said yetti “I no go out in the Sun, hurts me eyes” Morrow, when the sun sleeps, we wake and go” and with that he layed upon the hay and fell asleep. “I can’t wait until tomorrow, we must go now, it has been three days!!!” he rushed upon the boulder and tried to push it with all of his might. “help me” he yelled at the Fairy “ we must keep on” Zarah stood still looking down at her feet. “I know you want to go back home, and so do I” she said, “ but there is no way we can move the boulder, and it would take us days to climb across the mountain, where as our new friend Bastian can take us there in minutes” she laid her hand upon the dirty cloth that was now the unicorn “we must rest, and I must eat. Let us camp here tonight and trust our new friend” The Unicorn knew she was right, he realized it would be easier and faster to wait out the day. But his heart was leaping off his chest. Would Natasha wait? Would she know that he was not lost forever? What if he came back and she no longer wanted him? If she had a new toy to whisper her secrets to?
“it will all be alright” said a voice inside the Unicorns head “sleep now, tomorrow will be hard enough” The Unicorn knew it was Rochelle’s voice that spoke into his mind, and decided to trust it. “trust is the bravest thing one can do” said the voice and the Unicorn laid upon his hooves and fell asleep. It was difficult for the Unicorn to discern if nightfall had come when he woke cold and stiff inside the cave. The fire had died down and the cave was completely silent. He shifted his hove and found Zarah laying upon his leg. A small smile crossed his lips ’this is how Natasha must feel holding on to me’ he thought “Natasha” he said out loud making Zarah wake with a start “where are we?” asked Zarah disoriented by the engulfing darkness “we are still in the cave” replied the Unicorn “we must keep going, it must be night time by now” “Friends woke up?” asked a groggy voice from a corner of the cave “I make” They could hear Bastian shuffle ling around the cave, suddenly there was a spark and then a fire grew out of no where. The Yeti was stretching his arms, yawning. “Thank you Bastian” said Zarah “do you think we can continue on now, we are both anxious to go back home” she said looking at the Unicorn who nodded quickly. “Friends leave?” said Bastian, his face looking very sad for such a big thing. “I’m sorry, Bastian” said the Unicorn coming over to him and placing his head upon Bastian’s Feet, this was the only part of Bastian the Unicorn could reach. “I have to get back to my human, I miss her very, very much” “Human nice to Unicorn” said bastian “yes, my human is very nice to me” “Once I get my magic back, I will bring all my Fairy friends to meet you” said Zarah at once. “OK” said Bastian looking happier “we go to ugly monster now” And with that Bastian heaved the heavy boulder out of the way and placed the Unicorn and the fairy on his shoulder. Bastian began to scale the mountain easily and as he did he sang a little song
‘oh Bastian made new friends Oh Bastian made new friends He soon will have some tens Tens tens tens of friends Bastian made new friends’
The Unicorn wished there was a way for Bastian and the Unicorn to be able to see each other when this whole adventure finished. He wished Natasha could meet Bastian and Zarah and the Goddess Rochelle. Thinking about Natasha made his chest hurt just a little bit more. Zarah had been right, crossing the mountain would have taken weeks if not month for the Unicorn but Bastian glided across the rocks like he could fly and soon they were in front of the cave where the monster lived. “Bastian scared” said bastian softly “Don’t worry bastian, said the Unicorn “I will go in” Bastian grabbed the Unicorn from his shoulder and placed him at the opening of the cave, the little light of the moon that shone in made the cave look blue and empty. There where wild root growing from the walls and strange flowers grew from the moss on the floor of the cave. “Hello” said the Unicorn “SHHHH” screeched Zarah on his back, “Do you want to wake the Monster” “I can’t see anything can you?” “I can see…” said some roots from the corner of the cave “and I see food coming my way” The voice was caked with age and dirt, it was slow and slithery like a snake. Both Zarah and the Unicorn stood very still, Zarah went inside of the Unicorns mane shaking. “you could eat me I suppose” said the unicorn trying for his voice to sound braver than he felt “but I wouldn’t taste very good, I am made of Cloth and filling” “perhaps I can burn you and cook your little friend” said the thing at the corner “ I am flame retardant” said the Unicorn not quite knowing what that was. A small cackle of a laughter filled the cave it began softly and then grew louder. The Unicorn took a step back not quite sure of why it was laughing. “I’ve no cause for laughter in a hundred years, thank you little toy” the root began to move and dirt fell to the floor. An arm came out of the center of the roots and then a leg and then another. Soon a very dirty woman was visible. Flowers growing out of her hair, and roots kept her from moving forward for the roots had grown intertwined her feet.
“your not a monster!” said Zarah more to herself than to the woman standing in front of her, this brought a on a new wave of laughter from the woman, this time the laughter was a little clearer for most of the dirt had escaped her mouth. “No, Fairy, I am a witch my name is shana, I have lived in this cave for hundreds of years I became tired of all that discovered that I was witch screamed and tried to burn me at the stake.” said shana looking down at her feet as she tried in vain to walk forward. “all I ever wanted was to cure people, help the plants grow, but humans have little minds and big scary thoughts” “Not my human!” screamed the Unicorn “Natasha is kind to all” He stepped forward as he screamed making the witch smile “perhaps” said the witch “friends ok?” said Bastian sticking his head into the cave. “yes Bastian we are ok” said Zarah “look, Shana, we came from very far away, to get the Crown back from you, with out us fairies cannot fly, and so my sisters and brothers are lost and at the mercy of the gods. Please, can we have the crown back” Shana looked down thinking for a minute “was very mean of me to do, I got so mad when a little fairy ignored me and flew away that I conjured the crown with my magic. I’m sorry little fairy I did not intend to hurt you or your family.” Shana knelt down to a crevice on the rock and took out the crown “I guess after years of being alone I became the monster they all thought I was” “Bastian knows what Shana means” said Bastian sadly “people always run away and Bastian just wants to make friends” “I guess we are two sides of the same coin you and me” said Shana “people always thought me beautiful and wanted me to be their friends until they realized what I was, yet if people stopped and listened to you people would know that you are kind.” Bastian coked his head to one side “Bastian…help shana out” he entered a bit further into the cave and began to tear softly at the roots until her feet were freed. “thank you Bastian” said shana, and then turning to the Unicorn she raised the crown and said Crown of fairies Stolen, buried Fly away to king and home Restore the magic I have soled
There was a bright spark of light, and the crown was gone. “that’s it” said Zarah in awe that after all they had gone through the adventure was almost over. “that’s it” said Shana Zarah spread her wings and tried. But could not, she tried again flapping her wings faster this time, once more she failed. Her little wings closed into themselves as she flopped on the Unicorns back sobbing. “Don’t give up now’ said the Unicorn “try again” “try again” came Rochelle’s voice inside the cave “Try again” said Bastian “try again” said Shana “try again, try again” said Natasha in her dream. Suddenly a blue light came off Zarah’s wings, softly at first and then brighter until it filled the entire cave with its light Zarah spread her wings and tried once more, this time she zoomed across the cave like a little lost star from the heavens. “I’m flying, I can fly again, look unicorn we did it!” said Zarah buzzing from one side of the cave to the next “we did” said the Unicorn looking into the Horizon where the sun began to show itself. “oh,” said Zarah stopping her flight in mid air in front of the Unicorn, “ we can get you back, we will leave right now I promise” “it’s no use” said the Unicorn “it’s been too long, and it will be longer still by the time I get back, Natasha probably has a new toy by now” “I don’t know much little one” said Shana “but if I had a toy like you I would never replace him so easily” “I like horsy friend, I would wait long time for him to come back” said Bastian “you think so,” said the Unicorn looking into the faces of all of his new friends “definitely” said Zarah “ok, then lets start walking” said the Unicorn lifting himself up and ready to gallop all day if he had to. “Oh, I don’t think you need to walk” Smiled Shana “ I can send you there in a flash” “really!!!” said the Unicorn “really” replied Shana “I’ll give you time to say your goodbyes” and then turned to bastian and they began to talk to each other.
“I will never be able to thank you enough for what you did, you are bravest, softest toy I have ever met” Zarah and the Unicorn gave each other a long hug “will I ever see you again?” asked the Unicorn “of course, now that I can fly we will see each other all the time” Zarah smiled and gave a little dance in midair. The unicorn turned and walked towards bastian “Goodbye my friend” said the Unicorn “bastian made a new friend” said bastian looking at shana “we will have walks and picnics all time now!” “ I am so glad” said the Unicorn and gave Bastian’s big thumb a hug. “Ok” said the unicorn to shana “I am ready” “thank you” said shana and waved her hand.
There was a large pop in the Unicorns ears and suddenly he felt warm and a deep peace in the pit of his belly. He looked up to see Natasha’s beautiful face sleeping, hugging him close as she did. Natasha’s eyes opened and saw the Unicorn. “Mammmy, mammy” screamed Natasha. Natasha’s mom rushed into the room “what’s wrong are you ok” asked the mom “look, look he’s back just like you said, he’s back!” Natasha held on to the unicorns arms as she danced and twirled him around the room “yes” said the mom a little puzzled “I see, but it is too early yet to play Natasha you better get back into bed for a little while longer.” “ok mammy” said Natasha and climbed into bed hugging her Unicorn tightly as she did “Mammy told me all about your adventure, Im glad you came back” Natasha said hugging the Unicorn tightly “and Im sorry I never gave you a name, while you where gone I thought about it for a long time, I think your name is Blu” ‘Blu’ thought the unicorn with a secret smile ’I like it’
Weeks had passed since blu’s adventure. Weeks that had been spent in utter bliss. Natasha took blu everywhere and told all the kids in school about his adventures with the fairy. Blue felt the happiest he had ever been. One night when the moon was high and full blu heard a little buzzing above his head. He was been cradled in Natasha arms. “blu…Blu” said Zarah Blu stood up happy to see his friend “blu we need your help” asked Zarah trying not to wake Natasha up “someone has stolen the magic gold from the leprechauns and with out there will never be a rainbow again” “but I just got back” said blu “it’s ok” said Natasha rubbing her arms and starring at him and the fairy “ I will wait for you, and then you can tell me all about your new adventure” Blu was surprised but happy that Natasha was not running away screaming ’my toys are talking!’ Natasha gave blu a big hug and placed him by the window. “blu comes with us now?” said Bastian from the window standing next to Shana whose flowers where still growing form her hair. A little gasp escaped natashas lips, but blu just smiled and said “ok, lets do this …”
The end or is it?
