What is Sacred Geometry?

The term Sacred Geometry is considered to be a common element (or a cultural universal) of the human condition. Geometry is a part of science concerned with questions of size, shape, and relative position of figures and with properties of space. Sacred Geometry forms are sacred universal patterns used in the design of everything in our reality.  

What Sacred Geometrical Forms are in the Kabbalah?

The Seed of LifeThe Seed of Life ("Zera ha-Chaim") - The seed of life is the geometrical basis for the flower of life. The seed of life is a formation of 7 intertwining rings. The center of one of them is on the perimeter of the 6 rings surrounding it. Creation as mentioned in Genesis 1 can be interpreted through the structure of the "Seed of life". According to the Kabbalah men and nature are one.

The Flower of Life (Perach ha-Chaim) - The flower of life is a geometrical form of intertwined rings, in which according to the Kabbalah, are hidden all the existing geometrical forms and the secrets of creation itself. The Temple of Osiris at Abydos, Egypt contains the oldest to date example. it is carved in granite and may possibly represent the Eye of Ra a symbol of the authority of the pharaoh. Other examples can be found in Phoenician, Assyrian, Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern, and medieval art.

The Tree of Life inside the Flower of LifeThe Tree of Life ("Etz ha-Chaim") - The Tree of Life is one of Kabbalah’s most sacred and revered concepts. At once a symbol and an analogy, the Tree of Life represents both the Kabbalistic map of creation as well as a path to God. "Keter" (Crown) - I AM WHAT I AM (Total Consciousness), "Chochma" (Wisdom) - Intuitive intellect, "Bina" (Understanding), "Daat" (Knowledge) - Allowing for harmonization between opposing ideas and emotions, "Chesed" (Love, Kindness) - The first emotional aspect of the soul, creating the potential for sincere giving and self-correction, "Gevurah" (Strength, Might) - Balances the giving nature of Chesed, "Tiferet" (Compassion) - Tiferet is the mediator between Chesed and Gevurah, and represents ultimate truths, Tree of Life"Netzach" (Victory, Eternity) - Refers to initiation of action, persistence, and the ability to design and carry out plans, "Hod" (Acknowledgement, Surrender), "Yesod" (Foundation) - The power that combines the 7 emotional sefirot and connects the sefirot of the higher realms to the lowest realm of Malchut, "Malchut" (Kingdom, Aristocracy) - In contrast to its translation, Malchut is the lowest sefirah on the Tree of Life indicating the earthly reality in which man resides. However, the word Malchut also indicates kingliness, alluding to the supreme, sovereign nature of the Keter, and indicating their bond through the 9 preceding sefirot.

The Gordion Knot / Torus Knot

The Gordian Knot / The Torus Knot - The Torus Knot, or the Gordian Knot is made of one continuous line that has no beginning or end. It can be formed on the "Torus Tube" shape, which is governed by special mathematical rules. The "Torus Tube" is an orb with an axis in its center, made so the orb moves from side to side till infinity. The "Torus Knot" represents the "triple relations", which the three forces are creating everything in the universe.

The Chariot (HaMerkaba) / The Tetaredron Star - A 3 dimensional Star of David, constructed of two pyramids, placed on top of each other in reverse. In the Kabbalah it is believed to be a Powerful Tool for Protection, Healing, Love, Spiritual Balance, and considered to be an interdimensional vehicle. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means Spirit. "Ba" means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another. The shape is called "the Tetaredron Star" and it represents the need to balance between the spiritual and material world.

What are the powers of the Merkaba?

The Merkaba (chariot) has 8 angles. The number 8 according to the kabbalistic texts represent creativity, skill and the infinite spiritual energy, increases self confidence and serves as general protection against the evil eye and bad spirits.
